It Starts With Us

2023 Ascension Illinois Associate Giving Campaign

Frequently Asked Questions

As an Ascension Illinois associate, every day you answer a call that generations of people before us have answered. You show up to care for other people — or to support those who are providing direct patient care. Thank you for bringing our mission to life on a daily basis. And thank you for further extending your support through your participation in the 2023 Associate Giving Campaign — “It Starts with Us.”

WHAT IS THE "IT STARTS WITH US" ASSOCIATE GIVING CAMPAIGN?

The 2023 “It Starts with Us” Ascension Illinois Associate Giving Campaign provides associates with the opportunity to support our shared mission by making a gift to help your fellow associates or to support the Ascension Illinois ministry that means the most to you.

WHY IS MY GIFT IMPORTANT?

Your generosity speaks directly to who we are as a faith-based organization. Every year thousands of people rely on support they receive from us through our Foundation. Their needs are not going away. Your gift this year will continue our legacy of extending compassion to our fellow associates in need or will support the greatest need at the ministry that is nearest and dearest to your heart.

WHEN AND HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?

The campaign kicks off on Monday, October 2, 2023, and runs through Friday, October 27, 2023. Associates may participate by making a gift online, payroll deduction or by mail:

Make an online gift or return your form with a gift or pledge of $50 or more by October 27 in order to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of 10 great giveaways, like a Fitbit or iPad.*Please note that leaders are exempt from this drawing.

WHERE DOES MY GIFT GO?

100% of your gift goes directly to support your fellow associates who need financial assistance or to support a ministry that is nearest and dearest to your heart. Operating costs for the Ascension Illinois Foundation are underwritten by our health system.

CAN VENDORS, VOLUNTEERS AND OTHER NON-ASSOCIATES SUPPORT THE ASSOCIATE GIVING CAMPAIGN?

While they cannot make a gift to the Associate Giving Campaign, they can make a gift online to the ministry of their choosing.

HOW CAN I SUPPORT A FUND NOT LISTED ON MY GIVING FORM?

This year you can choose whether to make a gift to support your fellow associates who need financial assistance or to support the greatest need at the ministry that is nearest and dearest to your heart. If you are interested in supporting an area not listed, please contact Marilou Niggemann at Marilou.Niggemann@ascension.org.

IF I GIVE ANONYMOUSLY, WILL I STILL RECEIVE RECOGNITION?

Giving anonymously means that your name will not be printed or displayed in any Foundation-related recognition opportunities. One consideration before deciding to remain anonymous is that many other people may be inspired to give when they see that you are participating.

WILL OTHERS KNOW THE AMOUNT OF MY GIFT?

No, the exact amount of your gift will not be publicized. Depending on your giving level, you may be recognized as  a member of a giving circle or society, but you always have the option to remain anonymous.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THERE IS AN ERROR OR MY DONATION IS NOT APPEARING ON MY CHECK STUB?

Contact the Foundation office immediately by emailing Marilou Niggemann at Marilou.Niggemann@ascension.org.

HOW DO I OBTAIN A TAX RECEIPT?

If you make a gift via cash, credit card or check, you will receive a tax receipt in real time. If you give via payroll deduction, please contact Marilou.Niggemann@ascension.org to receive a year-end statement for the year in which the deductions were taken.
